A Guide to Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What software or tools do you use to create elearning?

A: We use the Articulate 360 suite of tools, most notably Storyline 360. It’s by far the best tool we’ve come across for producing effective, engaging and beautiful elearning. It’s powerful enough to allow you to do almost anything you can imagine, make it look the way you want and produce output that plays reliably – no matter what device you’re using to view it. Plus, we can publish your finished program in a variety of file formats — for web, LMS (SCORM compliant), storyboard and even video.

Q: Can you create elearning that plays well and looks good on desktops, tablets and phones?

A: Yes, in most cases we create a single learning module that can be viewed from any of these devices. However, be aware that the amount of information that will comfortably fit on a computer screen is usually much greater than what is easily readable on a phone. That’s why we work through a series of questions with you at the start of your project, to identify what your learning audience’s needs are and what their primary learning device is likely to be. The result is a program that offers maximum usability while maintaining a great experience for all of your users.

Q: I’m not sure what I want to offer my end-users. Can you help me figure out what I need?

A: Yes! Before we begin to create your program, we work with you to define what you want to offer. And we make sure that you understand the implications of your choices, so you can make informed decisions. Our goal is to make sure you understand the options available to you, without overwhelming you with techno-jargon. Whether you need a need a single course, an entire curriculum or consultation on Learning Management System… we can help.

Q: How do you work? What is the development process like?

A: We like to tailor the details of our process to meet our individual client’s needs. However, these five simple steps describe the general process.

PHASE 1

The Discovery/Research Phase. First, we learn as much as we can about your project, your organization and your unique needs. Then we work together to come up with a project plan that meets your objectives, your timeline and your budget.

PHASE 2

In the second Phase we move on to Storyboarding. In this phase we organize content from your subject matter experts, write custom content and output a storyboard that shows you the specific flow of information in your elearning. Sometimes the storyboard is simply a written document, other times it might include preliminary screenshots and designs that help tell your story. Once approval on the storyboard is given, we move onto the next Phase.

PHASE 3

The Draft Phase. We begin this phase by creating a draft version (prototype)of your elearning project. Usually this involves creating a fully functional elearning module that shows all of the slides, filled-in with actual text, animation, interactivity, graphics, colors and branding. You’ll have the chance to review this version, suggest edits/revisions and fill-in any missing content.

PHASE 4

The Development Phase. At this point there is usually an additional round or two of reviews and revisions as we work together to clear up any issues, test functionality, and move the project towards completion. You’ll have the chance to deliver one final round of revisions.

PHASE 5

In the Delivery Phase we create a final version of your elearning program based on your remaining feedback. Upon approval we gather and deliver the final files and complete the project.
